Hello My Name Is...

Victor de la Garza

A little about myself.  I have been teaching for the past 13 years and have discovered that I truly love this profession and the lives that we touch every day.  Over the past 7 years that I've been working at Bentsen Elementary I've feet that they have been the best years of my teaching profession.  My personal hope is that I instill in these children the want to better themselves and the need to never be satisfied with the bare minimum in all
things in their lives.

I graduated from UT Pan American in 2005 with a degree in Kinesiology and a minor in biology and military science.  In August 2005 I was commissioned as a second Lieutenant in the United States Army and was assigned to Aco 1-504th 1BCT 82nd Airborne Division on March 2006.  After my service was complete in 2009 i resigned my commission and accepted my new commission in the Texas Army National Guard.  I served in the National Guard from 2009-2012 and participated in several operations in support of the state of Texas due to natural disasters.  I was in the IRR for 1 year and felt that my service was not complete so I decided to join the Army Reserve as company commander for the 461st ETOE in McAllen.  In January of 2017 I left the Army Reserve and subsequently left the army for good which brings my military career to an end.
Having been as student that endured many educational struggles during my time in elementary, middle, and high school I feel that I am in a position to show children that one can achieve if they only believe that the can
