Welcome Parents and scholars to this 2023-24 school year!! I am extremely excited for this school year! I already foresee that it is going to be an exceptional year. With that being said, let me introduce myself.
My name is Mrs. Erica Ortiz and this will be my 19th year as an educator. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary studies with a minor in Bilingual Education, and a Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instruction with an endorsement in Literacy. I am a state certified Reading Specialist K-12 and a state certified Reading Legacy Teacher.
Not only am I a teacher, but I am a wife to my amazing husband of 21 years, and a mother to four wonderful children. I have Andrea , Daniela, Karina, and my only son, Jorge. My oldest daughter will be graduating from Texas A&M San Antonio this coming May. She graduated from Sharyland Pioneer High School in 2021, and received an academic and athletic scholarship to go play softball at A&M San Antonio. Daniela just graduated this past May of 2023 from PHS as well. She will be joining her sister at A&M San Antonio to play softball on a scholarship as well. I am so excited that they will get a chance to play together at the collegiate level. My daughter Karina is a junior at PHS, and my son is a freshman as PHS as well. We have 5 dogs of our own, and we are fostering 2 others, so we have a total of 7 dogs.
I have a passion for teaching Reading and Writing, and plan on implementing many valuable lessons with your children. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
